NBS Financial Services expands team

<< back to 2006 News List

Norris, Beggs & Simpson Financial Services added Financial Analyst Brad Lawliss to its Portland office and Assistant Finance Officer Erich Guenther to its Bellevue office. Benjamin Johnson has been promoted to Finance Officer in the Portland office. NBS Financial Services’ Loan Servicing Division added Loan Closing Specialist Lena Poet.

The expansion of the NBS Financial Services team follows the incredible volume of loans closed by the group in 2005. With 65 loans closed and valued at $520 million in 2005, the Daily Journal of Commerce ranked the company as the #1 provider of commercial mortgages in Oregon, nearly $200 million dollars ahead of the next competitor. NBS Financial Services has also serviced $1.42 billion in loans this year.

Johnson, who joined NBS Financial Services in 2004, will be working with Vice President Blake Hering, Jr. in originating loans on office, retail, industrial and multifamily properties in and around the Northwest. Lawliss joins the company after spending 13 years with Bear Stearns & Company. While at Bear Stearns, Lawliss served as an Associate Director with its Global Convertible Hedge Fund. Guenther’s most recent position was with GMCO as operations director of the company’s hotel portfolio.

Commercial real estate lending performed strongly in 2005 and is expected to continue in 2006. Secondary real estate markets are seeing increasing activity as lenders and borrowers look to these markets to find solid investment properties.
